MESSAGE Dear
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It
is a great privilege for me to write the message for the May 2002
Newsletter. As
a church, we have come to a time of change.
Our dearly beloved Rev. Thomas Chandy has dedicated his time and
efforts in serving our congregation for the past 3 years and now we have
now reached a point where he departed from us.
As a congregation, let us be grateful for Achen’s services in
the church, and remember to keep him and his family in our prayers in
the years to come. I
would like to take this opportunity to
examine Mathew 22: 37-40, where Jesus states “You shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the
first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall
love your neighbor as yourself. One these two commandments hang all the
law and the Prophets.”
This can be regarded as one of the most important verses in the
Bible. This is the verse
which keeps us moving forward as a unified church body.
This is also the verse which enables each of us Christians to
grow in our walk with the Lord. As
we love God with total devotion, we will be fulfilling all the other
commandments. There is no other law can be fulfilled if that one law is
ignored. Our love for God
inspires one to obey the will of God. Then love for your neighbor
becomes a practical outworking of the love for God.
Perfect love gives us understanding and patience. It also enables
us to edify and encourage one another.
Perfect love also enables us to lead a life that is an example to
others. In
the years to come, we will come across many Achens, who are assigned to
our parish that may have great qualities and also perhaps limitations as
well. It is out duty as
brothers and sisters in Christ to accept and appreciate them for their
efforts and overlook their limitations.
They have dedicated their lives to God, and God uses them to
deliver his Word to people. As
many have already heard, Rev. Dr. K.A. Abraham will be joining our
parish as Vicar on May 9, 2002. Upon Achen’s arrival, let us
whole-heartedly welcome him and his family to our parish. Let us join
together and pray for God to guide and bless our parish in the years to
come. Thanks
and God bless you, Sincerely, Zachariah P. Thomas |
