March 2010

Dearly beloved in Christ,

This year Valiyanombu (Great Lent) began on Sunday the 14th of February. These are the days to set apart to meditate especially on the suffering and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we travel in this world as pilgrims we sometime get tired, weary and even lose sight of the road we have to go. In order to gain strength and insights for our journey we as a church commemorate, participate and celebrate the unfolding of the mystery of Christ. The passion and the death of our Lord brought salvation to each one of us and to whole humanity. The purpose of His incarnation at Bethlehem was completed by His death on the Cross of Calvary. The Almighty God expressed his inexplicable love through the cross of our Lord by making himself nothing, taking very nature of a servant being made in human likeness (Phil.2:7) Let us use the coming days meaningfully to go deep into the meaning of Cross and to experience God’s love as reality in our life and to share it with others. “Cross is not a piece of gold to wear on our chest, but the mark on our life”.

Our forefathers had a very good understanding of the mission given to us, so as a church we set apart the money saved during the lent season out of fasting and self denial, collect it as Uposhana Varam (self denial) and use it for the missionary activities of the church.

This month is set apart for the Diocesan collection. Please co-operate by paying an amount not less than $ 50 from each family.

May the Almighty bless each one of us.

Yours in His Service
