“Praise the Lord, O’ my Soul; all my inmost being, Praise his Holy name, Praise the Lord, O’ my Soul, and forget not all his benefits.” Palms 103:1-2

Let me thank God Almighty for giving me this opportunity to serve at St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, New York. I want to thank you all for the warm reception received at the JFK airport on Thursday evening. My native place is Kallooppara and my wife, Laly, is from Varikkadu, Tiruvalla. We have one son, Eby, who is finishing his BSc in Mangalore.

We were in the Karnataka Missions Field (Hoskote, Mundugod, Sirsi Sankeshwar, Kunta) for several years and then served in Kerala. For the last 5 years our parish was in Sultan Bathery and Nilambur area.

The church is a congregation of believers. It is the body of Christ. Its being is evident only through its ministry . Church’s ministry is the extension of Christ’s ministry and its task is from the entire church. The Christian believers are described as a “royal priesthood” and Holy nations (1 Peter 2:9). People who pray together will stay together. As believers, let us pray together, work together, worship together, and have fellowship together for the Glory of God. “ May our lives be a living sacrifice, Holy and acceptable for God” (Romans 12:1).

As members of St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, New York, let us remember and pray for all the clergies who served in this parish during the previous years. Please pray for us also. Let us pray together and stay together.

May the Lord Almighty be with us in the days to come.

Yours in His Service,

Rev. P. E. Mathew
